Ita Maude Wooller & B by Genevieve Lutkin
Ita Maude Wooller’s mission is to improve environments.
Her aim is to compose objects in time and space in a way that enhances people’s experiences of their space and, by extension, their existence.
IMW’s artistic education is cross-disciplinary. After graduating from Central Saint Martins’ fine art sculpture department in 2006, she trained with top garment technologists and embroidery specialists before undertaking an MA in Interior Architecture at the RCA.
Over the last decade, Maude Wooller has cultivated a successful creative practice designing while providing professional creative direction to innovative high end brands.
In 2009 Maude Wooller co-founded a successful arts business that she currently directs. This business services leading global brands such as Nike, Rapha and Dr. Martens.
Maude Wooller’s body of work demonstrates her preoccupation with sculpted space, focusing on functional objects in space; the furniture of our environment.
While creating and curating art objects, installations and experiences, Maude Wooller unites conceptual thinking and diagrammatic resolution with rigorous investigations into the use of materials.
IMW is intoxicated by materials. Each material is steeped in its own history and unique connotations & is chosen to service the concept and its impact on its environment.
Maude Wooller finds clarity in using tools such as space, materiality, light, time, tone and perspective to communicate. This is the language she has been learning, speaking and developing all her life.
IMW is seeking new ways to enable the viewer to absorb the ‘knowledge’ of a space into their whole being through experiencing its component parts.
